About Seriestrek axles
Seriestrek Extreme-duty 30 and 24-spline rear axles are machined from one-piece forgings of 1541-H alloy and are induction hardened to a depth of .300"- .350" and a value of 57-60 on the Rockwell "C" scale. The result of this induction hardened case and a soft core is a shaft that can withstand tremendous torque loads while still allowing a degree of flex and more flex cycles; important for a long life span. The stock Land Rover axles are made from a British alloy very close to 4140 and although fairly strong for their diameter, will twist even with normal use and will suffer from work-hardening at their weakest point. This work-hadening over time results in a failure rate of 100%. "Hardened" 10-spline shafts that are commonly available will be stronger initially but will fail sooner than a stock shaft as they already have a jump on the work-hardening that causes their demise. Seriestrek axles are strong enough to resist twisting under normal every-day driving, but are engineered to accept the twisting that comes from the hard use of off-roading without the work-hardening resulting in a much stronger shaft initially and also one with a much longer life-span. Seriestrek rear shafts incorporate an integral drive flange, adding strength while reducing driveline backlash by eliminating one spline joint. Seriestrek Extreme-duty 30 and 24-spline front axles are made from thru-hardened 4340 chrome-moly alloy and are machined to accept a full-circle bearing cap retainer. These front axles are far stronger than the original shafts, especially at the u-joint yoke and accept a heavy-duty 371 u-joint. They will also accept a CTM u-joint for the ultimate front axle shaft. |

| 30-spline axles: These axles along with electric-locking Toyota differentials have been installed in my own truck since 2004, and for thousands of miles, both on and off road. After this personal use and testing I am offering them to fellow Series Land Rover owners and am confident these axles along with a Toyota differential make up the strongest axle assemblies you can build for your leaf-sprung Land Rover while still maintaining the original housing. Splines are cut to a new original Toyota side gear example for an accurate fit with no backlash. These are the last axles you will need to buy for your truck!
Rear axles fit all Rover-style Series axle housings that are being upgraded to a 30-spline Toyota center, and will work with all Mini-truck, electric locking and non-locking V6/turbo style and new style T100/Tundra differentials. These are a full 1.290" in diameter your rear stub axles will need to be bored slightly. Bored stub axles are available on an exchange basis. The shafts are necked down in the area of the stub axles to allow full flow of gear oil to the wheel bearings. Front inner shafts mate to the 30-spline Toyota differential and include the inner axle bearing race as well as the grease seal race. Front outer shafts are 24-spline to mate to later Land Rover 24-spline drive flange or free-wheeling hub. 24-spline axles: If you want to install a locker in the rear or both ends of your truck, but don't want to convert to Toyota differentials, Seriestrek also offers 24-spline extreme duty axles for your leaf-sprung Land Rover. These axles work with all 24-spline Rover diffs or any brand of 24-spline locking differentials (ARB, Trutrac, Detroit, etc.) and replace the original 10-spline axles, eliminating the two weakest links, the axles and carrier. Seriestrek 24-spline axles are available three ways: Rear shafts only (if you're not worried about the front axle), front shafts only (if you have a 109 with a Salisbury at the rear), or both front and rear shafts together. Splines are cut to a new original Land Rover side gear for an accurate fit with no backlash. Rear axles fit all Rover-style Series axle housings being upgraded to 24-spline lockers or the later Land Rover 24-spline open differential. Front inner shafts mate to 24-spline lockers or the later Land Rover 24-spline open differential and include the inner axle bearing race as well as the grease seal race. Front outer shafts are 24-spline to mate to later Land Rover 24-spline drive flange or free-wheeling hub. |
